Maximum flexibility with MOPA pulse width modulation.
The light of the laser beam is emitted in pulses; this pulse duration is fixed for standardised devices. MOPA pulse width modulation allows you to set the laser parameters specifically and independently of each other. MOPA makes it possible, for example, to mark anodised aluminium in black, as is common in the marking of medical products.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ) - Laser engraving machine
The laser engraving machine uses a focussed laser beam to specifically mark materials by engraving, foaming, recolouring or removing the surface. The energy of the laser is controlled in such a way that a permanent change is achieved in the material. As the change takes place in the material and no additional components are required (such as labels), the laser markings are abrasion-resistant and resistant to chemicals and heat. In industry, this technology is often used by laser engraving machines for labelling components and packaging.
- High flexibility even with constantly changing labelling requirements, such as different sizes, layouts and content such as serial numbers or DataMatrix codes.
- Very fast set-up times: Compared to other labelling methods such as pad printing, no cleaning and cliche changes are necessary.
- Immediate availability of the system: The laser requires no lead time (e.g. preheating) and is immediately ready for use.
- Versatile range of applications: Even complex geometries can be easily realised with the laser. The labellling can also be applied to a wide range of materials.
- High level of integration into existing systems and production lines.
- No wearing parts and long service life.
The laser engraving machine works with exceptional precision in the micrometre range. This accuracy makes them ideal for demanding applications such as small texts, micro-engravings and the finest details where the highest quality is required.
- Safety: All system comply with the legally prescribed standards and directives in accordance with the Machinery Directive (CE compliant) and may therefore be used in the commercial sector without any safety risks.
- Durability: High-quality components ensure a long service life and high reliability. For example, the beam exit (collimator) and optics are provided with a special coating as standard to prevent dangerous back reflections.
- Service & maintenance: Our qualified service personnel are also available to you after the purchase for support of any kind and will take care of all your needs.
- Availability of spare parts: We guarantee the availability of all essential components for spare parts, extending beyond the statutory 10 years.
- Leverage our expertise: Since 2001, we have been a leading authority in laser engraving, understanding the key factors for outstanding labelling results.
Yes, the markings made with the laser are permanent as well as heat and chemical resistant. They do not easily fade or wear out, which makes them particularly suitable for industrial applications where durability and reliability are of utmost importance.
In laser marking, a focused beam of light creates a marking on the surface of various materials, such as metal or plastic. This laser engraving is particularly characterised by its durability, abraison resistance, and chemical resistance.
- Material: Depending on the material and the desired marking method, different times are required.
- Complexity of the design: Detailed or large-scale markings take correspondingly longer.
- Laser power and deflection unit: Higher power and high-quality components, such as the Galvo head, affect the processing speed.
- Focus and calibration: A correctly adjusted laser with regard to its parameters and focal height delivers faster and more precise results.
Our laser engraving devices comply with laser class 1 standards, allowing for safe usage without additional safety measures or a laser safety officer. After undergoing qualified training, our devices can be operated by anyone. We place great emphasis on safety and user-friendliness, so you can focus on what matters most: the precise execution of your laser engravings.
Yes, laser marking is inherently environmentally friendly as it does not require consumables such as ink or chemicals. Marking systems are characterised by an extremely low energy consumption.
Laser engraving machines are designed for continous operation and require minimal maintenance, as they do not have any wear-prone parts. Generally, it is sufficient to clean the lens and regularly change the filter of the extraction system, depending on usage.
The LMF Easy laser engraving machine for the marking of metals and plastics costs €16,900 at beLaser. Numerous additional features are also available, such as side loading for long components or the rotation unit for 360° all-round markings.
The lifespan of a laser marking system depends on the type of beam source used. For example, a fibre laser is particularly characterised by its long lifespan and low maintenance requirements. The average lifespan of a fibre laser exceeda 100,000 operating hours.
