Laser engraving machine application examples

Laser beam sources

A high-quality marking laser can make a big difference in the efficiency and accuracy of your labeling projects. When it comes to the precision and quality of your laser markings, choosing the right laser engraving machine, including a suitable beam source, is crucial.

The abrasion-resistant laser marking is suitable for the following materials, depending on the laser source:

  • Alloys
  • Metals
  • Coatings
  • Plastics
  • Lack
  • Ceramics
  • Slides
  • Glass
  • Leather
  • Wood
  • Minerals
  • and more

A fiber laser is very well suited for marking all types of metals, as well as plastics. The CO2 laser achieves tone-on-tone markings on plastics and is ideal for organic materials. UV and green lasers are characterized by a low wavelength and are used in the plastics sector.

Your custom laser engraving machine

Every production has individual requirements – be it an enlarged slide-in compartment, side loading, or immediate check of the labeling field.

We consider your existing manufacturing facilities and build a perfectly matched laser engraving machine – customized for you.

We can't find the right laser – so we're building it!

The following sections provide an explanation of the various add-ons and their use cases.

Flexibility for your laser engraving machine

Standard systems often have limited labeling space in the laser cabin, thus being bound to predetermined label field sizes.

The LMG laser engraving machine's side loading capability allows for precise marking of longer components.

Ideally suited for labeling:

  • Cable channels
  • Profile
  • Pipes
  • Hoses and cables
  • et al.

The loading of the laser engraving machine is done via the side insertion with a brush curtain. The component can be optimally aligned with positioning aids.

Depending on the beam source, a wide variety of materials can be permanently marked here, such as:

  • Metals
  • Plastics
  • Alloys
  • Coatings
  • Wood
  • and many more materials

In addition to manual loading and unloading of the laser engraving machine, it is also possible to integrate a conveyor belt.

Benefit: Improved lead time, as you save valuable handling time with automated conveyor belts.

The speed can be adapted to existing production lines and any production downtime can be avoided.

Our laser engraving machines are manufactured in our in-house special machine construction department with integrated software development. Customized marking solutions for every marking application, for example:

  • Robot-guided labeling lasers
  • On-the-fly laser marking
  • Software Solutions
  • Creation of various interfaces and connection options (ProfiNET, Modbus, etc.)

Laser engraving machine for promotion codes. Marking is done with a fiber laser during motion (Marking on the Fly). Approximately. 45,000 caps/hour marked with a unique 8-digit code.

Edge marking of components also presents challenges for laser engraving machines with side loading. Two reasons are decisive here:

  • The component is too tall for the side sliding compartment.
  • The minimum distance to the laser lens cannot be maintained

The solution here is a hidden compartment in the labeling surface, which can be opened as needed. Longer components can be lowered into the shaft and positioned under the laser.

The laser engraving machine's parameters can be set as usual. All other functions remain unaffected, and the active labeling process can be started. After labeling, the insert tray can be easily closed again. Feel free to contact us for a non-binding initial consultation.

Handling is a not insignificant factor of time when it comes to component labeling. Especially with high volumes, these quickly add up and become a cost driver.

We offer the option of an automatic lift door on all laser engraving machines. This saves time and costs in the serial production process.

The security door closes at the push of a button and automatically triggers the labeling process. After the labeling process is complete, the door opens automatically again.

Marking on the Fly

Laser marking during the marking process

During laser marking, the products to be marked do not always have to be stationary under the laser. They can also be marked while in motion. Special pulse generators allow the laser engraving machine to always know the exact belt or product speed and automatically adjust to changes.

A typical application is laser marking of expiration dates in beverage bottle filling. Our lasers can handle products at a speed of up to 500 meters per minute label.

Autofocus

One-touch height adjustment

The laser engraving machine LMG IND can optionally be equipped with autofocus. This is ideal especially when components of different heights are to be labeled. .

The central reference point allows for adjustment of lens height at the touch of a button, ensuring permanently high-quality laser markings.

The autofocus significantly reduces your setup times, as no manual axis adjustment via software is required, allowing the next machining operation to start immediately.

360° rotation unit

The 360° rotary unit for laser engraving machines allows you to precisely mark rounded surfaces with great detail.

Flexible clamping units in the laser cabin can be individually adjusted to your products. This is supported by a software-controlled marking area for millimeter-accurate adjustments.

Ideal for permanent labeling of:

  • Car Interior Controls
  • Packaging of any kind
  • Pipes
  • Round profiles
  • and many more applications

X / Y / Z Portal

An additional integrated X-axis, or combined with a Y-axis, not only provides you with an enlarged labeling area but also maximum flexibility in your laser marking.

The laser is guided over the product in all three dimensions, making the entire marking area of the laser engraving machine available for parts.

Your benefits at a glance:

  • Up to 2 additional X / Y axes for positioning
  • Extremely high positioning capability
  • Enlarged labeling field
Axis Portal X Y Z for Laser Engraving Machine LMG-IND

Are 3 axes not enough for you?
With robotic handling for your laser engraving machine, you can reach nearly every corner of your product. A 4- to 6-axis robot can freely guide the laser head within the laser cabin, allowing you to achieve markings even in the most remote corners.

Software and Interface Connection

The performance of a laser engraving machine depends not only on the optical peripherals used but also crucially on the control system and software employed. beLaserMark is among the most powerful and versatile on the market:

  • Multilingual
  • Updatable even with an operating system change
  • Up to 6 lasers simultaneously via a software interface!
  • Strong import filter
  • Many connectivity options
  • Background camera - everything in view

With the camera function in beLaserMark, positioning is even easier! The work area is captured by an integrated camera and displayed in real-time in beLaserMark. This allows you to easily position the desired laser image on the object to be marked, without requiring any adjustment parts. Target and position lasers are always included as standard, in addition to the camera view option.

Curves or objects with extreme geometries are no challenge for our 3D laser systems.

Up to 80 mm of height difference can be compensated for without moving the component or the laser head. Our scan heads are designed for the highest throughput rates and precision.

High-speed and low-drift scanner technology – 2D and 3D.
